Observe is part of a series to do with the female figure reading. Most of my paintings are rather small, 12 x 16 inches in size. That's about as small as I can do a figurative work and do it well. These urban genre, or slice of life paintings, work better on a small scale.
Empurple belongs to a series that I began about 5 or 6 years ago. The series depicts the female figure reading in various poses and situations. I often look up synonyms for the word, or words, that I would use for the title. Empurple is seldom used in most people's vocabulary. It's actually a verb, as in, being colorful.
Clearance is part of a series of urban landscapes series. This scene looks down a street in Midtown Manhattan around lunch time. The cast shadow across the sidewalk in the foreground reaches back in space and points to the main character who is having a conversation on his cell phone.
